Child: Oren, 10 Months
Inspiration: My husband, certainly not the decorator in our family, stumbled upon the 'Links' rug by Not Neutral and fell in love....

Inspiration continued: It became our inspiration for the room. We live in a rental with 'navajo white' walls, so we needed to bring in color in other ways. We made swatch portraits for over the crib, framed frog pictures from a calendar (easily changeable as his interests develop), made curtains, and hung an embroidered ABC picture from my childhood. We also painted a dresser from craigslist in orange and white, and added green bubble glass knobs from Anthropologie. A crazy quilt from my aunt completed the look.
Tip for Using Color: Find one great piece, no matter how large or small, to use as your inspiration and go from there. Also, don't worry if you must have white walls - you can bring in color in lots of other ways.
Colors Used: "Links" rug by Not Neutral in Sable / Ozone / Lotus / Persimmon, "Retro Bubbles" fabric in blue for curtains, Kelly Moore navajo white paint

Shaw's Original Fir...
I like the idea of the embroidery hoops with various print fabrics on the wall... That's a great way to use fabric remnants (and man do I have plenty of those) and be able to easily switch them out as tastes change - may have to try that in a non-kid's room as well.
I like the hoops too but they (and the frog pictures) seem realy high on the wall.
I really like how the curtains relate to the rug...fun patterns.

I did the same exact thing to an old dresser in our nursery. Orange base with white drawers! We love it.
i think the embroidery hoops with fabric are the new bunting, or maybe they're the new wall decals? i think this year's contest will be filled with them.
