If you're renovating your home, one of the best places to salvage materials for new furniture is from your own junk pile. Check out this simple idea for upcycling old floor planks into a built-in desk!
After these floorboards were pulled up to make way for a new installation, they were assembled and glued onto plywood backing for the desktop and drawer fronts. The desk was then fitted into an alcove, serving as both a workspace and a preserved piece of the home's history. As a bonus, it even matches the new wood floors!

Shaw's Original Fir...
Wow, that's creative. I especially like how the floor molding stops where the legs meet the floor, then continue in the back. But, there's no cut-out for power cords and such in the desk. :(
I absolutely LOVE this desk idea. However, the faux "legs" at the front look seriously stupid and takes away from the beauty of the build-in piece. Real legs? Sure. Fake legs? No way!
I have a ton of Brazilian Koa left over from my renovations, I have been trying to find a way to use it. It was so expensive, I can't NOT use it! Thanks for the idea.
