Greeting from South Africa! The very creative entrepreneurs behind Daddy's World wowed us again with their brand new project — a boutique trailer park on an apple orchard just an hour outside of Cape Town. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the attention to detail — when these guys do something, they do it well.
After arriving at a barn styled reception — straw bales and all — you take a boardwalk to twelve vintage Airstream suites and a luxury cottage, Daddy’s Villa. Each retreat was individually designed by South African artists and designers, including Sacha Olivier, Mark & Joe Stead and Jeannie Sherwood & Kirsten Townsend.
Every Airstream has a living room (which doubles as a second bedroom) and a bathroom attached in a beautifullyl minimalist style.
The Old Mac Daddy restaurant is also on the premises and is a design masterpiece in itself. The restaurant is situated in the barn with the most beautiful view over the valley.
Old Mac Daddy is very child-friendly and you will find an apple themed (in keeping with the surrounding) kids room in the barn, too. I was amazed by the creative use of materials and furniture, almost all the pieces were multi-functional.
The best part of this experience was that it was totally affordable and I hope it stays this way! For prices and information see: Old Mac Daddy and Facebook Group | Old Mac Daddy.
