The whole vintage camera movement made quite the splash in 2010, but this is probably the first time we've seen someone purposefully sticking LED bulbs into the insides of them. As simple as it looks, this DIY project takes some skill, as Etsy hacker Dan Riordan will tell ya. But what's it matter when they're this fun to look at?

Adding some functionality to all those dusty vintage cameras we now have eating up our precious shelving space certainly isn't a bad idea. Now, we've got some inspiration to shove a low-temperature bulb into it and see if we can pull off a similar look.
As cool as they are, we feel the asking price is a bit hard to swallow. However, if you'd rather just purchase the darn lamps instead of tinkering with electronics, you can buy them for around $150 at their Etsy store.

very clever . . . very cool! akari lamp sales can't help but "suffer." ;-)
I was kinda hoping for a how-to on using old polaroid photos to create a lampshade, but I guess this works too.
