We haven't taken Olioboard for a test run yet (although we can't wait to give it a try once all our posting is done for the day!), but here are a few pertinent details on the new app:
• Free to use, with registration
• Drag & drop interface which allows rotation, scaling, framing and cropping
• Includes items from IKEA, CB2, Crate & Barrel, West Elm and more
• Search for items by color, brand, category, price or upload you own items
We're sure that there must be a bunch of Apartment Therapy readers who are making digital mood boards. What's your favorite app or method? Let us know, and if you've tried Olioboard give us the scoop on that too...

I have discovered a new kind of crack. Thanks!
this will be my new summer pasttime. i'm already trying to furnish the apartment we moved into a few months ago, and planning a trip to ikea this weekend and again in july.
this will be PERFECT!
I use kuler.adobe.com for a color pattern (5 colors is usually the best amount to plan a room) and then search for hours and hours for the items I'm thinking I need in my head. From Ikea to Overstock and everywhere inbetween. Then a program called SnagIt to grab web images and put them all together on one page. This seems WAY easier.
That app looks awesome! I cna't wait to try it out!
Kuler.adobe.com is the best! I used that tool to come up with my wedding color scheme.
This tool also looks good. Too bad our place is already furnished, but I will keep it in mind if we ever get around to buying a house in the far future. I hope it will still be usable in 10 years. In the meantime, I will pass it along to my friends.
Glad to hear everyone is excited to try it out!!
A heads up that the olioboard server is getting pretty bogged down with all of the people going to the site today. It may be a bit slow --- we're working on speeding it up though!
Thanks and looking forward to seeing everyone's creations :)
This is the answer to a prayer! We are in the process of buying a gut-renovation 450 sf apartment, and are building an 800 sf house out of recycled shipping containers.
Trying out colors and looks and keeping track of ideas was daunting but this should do the trick!
I jjust signed up and it seems like a great tool..now if only it wasnt taking so long to lead everything. Been waiting about 7 minutes now...
THe site is not working for me ... it keeps asking me to enter a valid email address even though I have gmail ...
Not working....
very slow today-aghhhh. too painful to wait.
how do you incorporate your colors from kuler with the snagit images? what platform? how do you put it together-- confused
Anyone know where that orange lamp in the main picture is from? That's what tipped me over the edge to join but I can't find it anywhere!
It looks like a cool tool... but it is literally taking minutes for each page to load. Hopefully their servers are overloaded with AT and D8 peeps, though that should have been part of the PR plan. Because if it really is that slow in a couple days, it is essentially useless.
Hey Folks,
Sorry again for the delays/slow loading times. We're upgrading to a speedier server as we speak. It should be back up and running shortly!!
Sheilah
AT should really notify sites before they feature them ^^
With all the traffic, I have been trying all day (unsuccessfully) to play with it. *cries*
yep, still down due to traffic!
We're back up and running folks! Thx for the patience :)
It appears we underestimated the effect of a post on AT and Decor8. Wowzers!
Let us know if you're experiencing any other issues. Otherwise, have fun!!
it's asking me to enter a valid email address even though i keep entering mine :-/
I SnagIt/screen clip images and load them onto my iPhone. As I add images over time, I edit out those that no longer work. Having the images on my iPhone lets me show salespeople and contractors what I have in mind.
Ultimately, I paste the final clips into a Word document, so I can see everything together.
I just signed up for this app because things like this are pure play - but I don't see myself giving up my iPhone swatch system.
I just went to check out kuler.adobe.com - it requires Flash, which (1) won't work on an iPad and (2) is notorious for security problems.
Sorry for the double post but thought folks should know about the problems they could be giving themselves - Adobe just had a MAJOR security breach for both Flash and Reader.
kaya26, send me an email (sheilah@keeleux.com) with your address and I'll try and figure out what's happening.
ohh-myy-gaaaaawwwd! Looks like polyvore for sofas & wallpaper
i am soo excited to try this site out! i recently moved into a new apartment and have been trying to find ways to collect all of my ideas for decorating. this is perfect =) thanks!
I love it! Now if only I could actually afford all the rooms I'll design.
I use photoshop for all of my mood boards, but if this gets up and running, I'm sure that this would be a great tool for for lots of people to explore.
OK, I have some serious problems here. That site is like SuperCrack. The good news is that I will eventually stop playing on this thing since I will be losing my job, then internet, because I have been on that site too much.
Hey ChloeC,
Thanks for taking olioboard for a test run. We're working on updating with more antique/character pieces.
As well, you can upload your own photos or pull from a designated flickr account (click upload items from the sub-nav). This week we'll also be launching a firefox add-on that allows you to upload from anywhere on the web. Hopefully this should help make sure you get the items you're looking for into your board!
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with :)
Cheers,
Sheilah
hehe :) glad you're enjoying it and thx for passing it along to your friends!!
i'm lamenting all the hours I poured into these project boards in my days as a fledgling designer years ago. Oh, the papercuts I could have avoided! Just tried my mouse at my first olioboard here: http://tinyurl.com/28m46dj
Website sounds great, but loading time is ridiculously long. I signed up quickly but am still waiting for something to appear.
Will not use anymore.
I love Olioboard - thanks for sharing! I just re-did a mood board for a client using Olioboard. Check out my blog if you are interested to see them both and let me know which one you think looks better: http://ow.ly/2YosV
