- What I Love About My Small Home:
- I love the warm, inviting feeling when I walk through the front door. Although it is a basement flat, it still feels bright, open and airy.
Most of the time it is dreary outside, but my place feels like a perfect cosy London flat. My favourite thing is to snuggle on the couch and look out at the garden, or when we get a rare bit of sunshine, open the doors and enjoy the sunlight and warm breeze.
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- I share my home with my husband, our two dogs and two cats, so the biggest challenge was creating a harmonious space where all the inhabitants can co-exist happily. Because it is a lower-ground flat we are really fortunate to have the most charming little garden, which acts as an extra room (especially for the furry family members!).
My husband works from home, so another challenge was making sure he had a workspace. I had to forgo my dreams of a dining table, and instead we eat most of our meals in the kitchen. When friends come round we pull out a table that we keep stored under our couch.

This is the only basement apartment I have EVER seen that I like---no---LOVE.
Im SURE this has been a tour? Im convinced Ive seen that garden before...
Different garden but I do know which one you are referring to DESIGNGRATISLONDON.
My favorite part of this home is that the view is to the garden. Lovely.

Absolutely lovely and an amazing amount of light for a ground floor/basement apartment. You're furnishings look comfortable, lived-in and loved!
So much to like here!
I love the shelving over the kitchen door!
Great use of space - where did you get the grey sofa?
my dream house!! congrats ...
Your living room! Your garden! I'm in love.
This is my favorite....must be so cozy on a rainy day! I love the view into the garden and absolutely every part of this apartment. Doesn't feel like a basement at all. Well done!
Can you tell me where you bought your couch?
The couch was custom made. My work involves a lot of furniture design and manufacturing, so it actually worked out just as cost effective having one made to my specs.
cool!!!
The metal furnishings sit perfectly with the warmer earth coloured elements in this space. It's quirky and off beat yet warm and almost cottage like. Interesting touches like the terrarium hanging in the window really set the place off. A clear leader...you have my vote!
Wonderful! The opening area to the garden is delightful.
i'm so jealous. love the floors, the layout, the light...
i love it! i don´t know why but it seems to me that i prefer the international posts rather than those from USA.... i wish they were more from latinamerica!!! (i`m form argentina)
Best contestant yet. Like everything about it.
Absolutely gorgeous flat, perfect! Love this!
However, I have to say it - funny how what many Londoners would consider to be a palatial one bedroom has been re-submitted as 'small cool', lol.
This is the creation of a very talented indoor artist! This place should be a winner for SURE!
I love it! I too am in a basement apartment and it's has a great amount of filtered light and feels really cozy, especially in the winter. In the summer it's great bc it stays cooler! You've given me a lot of inspiration, I love your apartment. My favorite part is the little shelf/nook you have above your kitchen door! Great space saving!
Thoroughly enjoyed the pictures. Love your style. Something that caught my eye is that lovely green bottle. I have been wanting one like that for ages. Where did you get yours?
wow, that's a lovely basement! nice.
An Elegant Nest, Lovely.

Love the picture perfect dressing table and love the inspiring office area even more...officially obsessed. Are they teeny weeny paint brushes and art jars on that metal side table?? Too cute!
Just adorable!!!
Very nice, great use of space and colour......
i could live there!
Wish I could vote for this one again to move it up!
