Name: Baby Ollie
Location: Los Angeles (Westchester), CA
We wanted to create a light, welcoming, comfortable, smart kid space. We were not able to attach ourselves to one specific theme, so we started small. The Melissa and Doug tall giraffe was the first purchase and then we went from there.
I think the zebra rug came next. Originally I had a burnt orange and creme zebra rug, but that only lasted 2 months until the dog let himself in the nursery and went number one and number two right in the middle of it. Let the sibling rivalry begin!
We built the bookshelves from previous projects we were inspired by online. Creating an inviting reading vibe was important to us. Baby Ollie gets a couple of books before bed every night. My husband designed the Periodic Table of Elements after we realized there were just the right amount of elements to spell "OLIVER".
I made the growth chart that hangs behind the giraffe. There is nothing that Home Depot and Etsy can't do for a DIY. From there, we kept things as minimal as possible. Baskets to toss toys in and a wide dresser that currently functions as a changing table. We couldn't be happier with the space.
Tiny little touches make it even more special to us, like the wood rocking horse that belonged to my husband when he was a baby, as well as the handmade Hawaiian quilt that Ollie's grandmother made for him.
