Design: up-dn chair
Materials: Solid hardwoods
Pitch: The idea for the up-dn chair came to me while chatting with a friend. I sketched out a chair that served as a rocker and as a regular stationary chair. After various iterations, refining and defining the proportions, I eventually decided that the only way to get it right was to just build it. After many hours of fabrication, it took shape.
One version had a reclaimed wood backrest and seat, which turned out to be rather uncomfortable (and coincidentally fell and landed on my big toe prompting an ER visit!) I took a break from it for a few weeks and it sat. The raw metal acquired the "seasoned" look.
I chose to follow the modernist ethos of honesty in the materials. The seat and backrest are made of thick leather hide, and the frame of raw steel. I drew on my love of hot rods, modern architecture, and vintage airplanes to create this minimal and unique design, a form 100% dictated by its function. I designed this chair to be packed and shipped flat, and assembled using standard tools.

That's a braw looking chair Ollin, I could picture me rockin back & forth sittin on it ootside yer Mum's hoose, with a fine 12 year old single malt MacAllan Scotch whisky. Is the leather made fae a deid coo or a buffalo? LoL. Anyway brilliant work big man & good luck.
