Bay Area Writers' Workspaces

Seeing writer's rooms in this post on Friday reminded us of an article in The Chronicle a couple of years ago. Adair Lara's November 2005 piece featured four Bay Area writers and their workspaces. Amy Tan (above), Anne Lamott, Daniel Handler (aka, Lemony Snicket), and Lisa Brown all do their writing in small spaces that are decorated with very personal objects.

As Tan says, "My writing space needs are mirrored in this quote from Matisse,"... " 'We have acquired a notion of limitless space, but we also find solace in the limited space of a room in our home full of the knickknacks that have accumulated in it through the years.' "
