Apple iPad 2 From $499 We all know we want one - Apple's shiny iPad 2. Even if you have the original, once you've had a chance to play around with the 2nd generation model you'll notice just how much thinner and faster this thing is. Big screen apps and internet browsing plus fuller featured mail and other software make this a much more mature user experience than the iPhone. The iPad is the perfect travel companion for casual work, web browsing, e-mail, movies, and more. A front facing camera for FaceTime video chats with grandma is just icing on the cake. |

You can even record full 1080p HD videos. |

Spotlight Ebony 58" Desk $499 Oh how we all love this Spotlight desk, available in two sizes at Crate & Barrel. Its clean lines and simple elegance work nicely to mature your home office from that crappy Ikea or Office Depot metal and glass desk. The dark wood or bright white color options are just gorgeous and also hides cables well. A slick drawer is angled with the desk and slots in stealthily. |

cb2 saga credenza $549 Okay, at this point what's another 10% cost overrun? We've already resigned ourselves to the fact that sticking to a strict "under" budget is tough if not impossible when things just slightly on the margin are so good. Let's call it "around" $500 then. This media console has the look and feel of higher end pieces from Room & Board or Crate & Barrel. Fans of mid-century Scandinavian furniture will love this in their living room as a retro flat screen TV stand. |

Samsung Galaxy Nexus $300 The hottest new smartphone from Google, sporting Android 4.0, otherwise known as Ice Cream Sandwich. A massive 4.65" 1280x720 Super AMOLED screen lets you see and do more on your phone, although for some it might be too big for your hands (beware, try it out first!). 32GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM paired with a snappy 1.2GHz processor make for one kickass new smartphone that's not made by Apple. |

Samsung 15.6" AMD Laptop $380 Not every traveler can make do with a tablet on the road. Sometimes you've just gotta get some real work done, and a laptop is the next best thing to sitting at your desk in the office in front of your work computer. There are tons of laptops in this price point, and this Samsung is just an example of how inexpensive you can get with still quite decent specs. Get the gift of on-the-go productivity this Christmas. |

Transformer Prime may be released the week before Christmas, talk about missing the date. You could buy the regular transformer but it lacks the same punch.
Santa likes to live on the edge. ;)
BTW funstraw, I spent some time with the first generation Transformer and absolutely loved it. Especially when compared to an iPad.
So where can I get an Aeron for $500? A fabolous chair in it's own right, but they start just under $900. You had me very excited when I saw this post, but you link to Herman Miller's site with the Aeron at $896. Move it over to the gifts under a $1000 where it still deserves to be.
Sorry late response, doubt you'll read it. The first gen was good, but it isn't worth it compared to the specs of the 2. Unfortunately I hear that they have some big problems with customer dissatisfaction on the 2.
@madw3rld - A couple places have the very base chairs for under $500 according to Google Shopping... I think they start there and go up very quickly!

@funstraw - giz just gave the 2 a pretty good review
I'm sure the problems will be ironed out when the os is updated. Look forward to trying it out.
