On-the-Wall Home Theater Solution

Good Questions

Q: We're in the process of setting up our home entertainment system and want to wall mount our new HDTV onto the wall for a clean and uncluttered look. One problem is we've got a center speaker without wall mounting hardware and was wondering if there was anything out there to keep the speaker positioned near the set without having to add furniture underneath so we can maintain a minimalist look like this setup [pictured left]?

Editor - Indeed there is. The Sanus VMA401 On-wall Component Shelf is a recently released floating shelf solution designed to hold up to 15 lbs with a very small visual footprint. The nearly flush mount Sanus solution also offers an integrated cable management to hide cables behind the hardware, something you'll want if you're trying to create a clean and uncluttered look. These are available one shelf at a time for about $50.

There also similar models, though without the positionable options of the Sanus above. Here's a fairly good looking Dual DVD Wall Mount Shelf for $73. If you need more than a couple of shelves, the $96 OmniMount Tria 3 Shelf Wall Systembrings you closer to the hi-end Bontempi Casa image you sent in (sans brighter colors); Sears offers a similar 3 tier solution for about the same price.
