When decorating your home it can sometimes be fun to play with scale a little bit. That's why I'm especially excited about a new trend I'm seeing more and more of: oversized vases. Giant flower arrangements (in giant vases) are more than just pretty accents: they can change the feel of an entire room.

This treatment doesn't just work with flowers: you can also make a big statement with tree branches and other assorted greenery, as seen on Emmas Designblogg.

A cut branch in a vase can be just as dramatic as a floral arrangement (and much, much larger). Spotted on SF Girl by Bay.

If you want to be really daring, try placing an oversized vase on the floor (as seen on Design Sponge).

This example, from Susan's San Francisco home, might be my favorite: with all those lovely green things, being inside is almost as good as being out.
