You can't beat Ikea's LATT activity table. It's the kid equivalent of the Expedit and a staple for parents worldwide. It's always great to see how this simple furniture set gets customized from household to household. Click through to see three readers' takes on the staple.
1. Weiya found her LATT in IKEA's clearance section for fifteen bucks (score!) and hid any scuffs with a fresh coat of paint and fabric for the seats. The result is fresh and adorable. You can see just how she did it over at her blog.
2. Ashley, of Design Build Love, combined chalkboard paint and metallic chevron stripes for an attractive and functional spin on the original. It was successfully auctioned off at a local charity event.
3. Emily Grady used vintage-style wrapping paper, applied with Mod Podge, to spiff up hers. After the maps were sealed with acrylic spray, it was ready for play.
Well done all of you- I think there are some very happy kids out there!

I love the map table!
Eh! I am just hacking on set (found on the street!) right now!!! The chair was painted in the most adorable mint shade!! The table isn't done yet but painted in a "stormy" blue with a chalkboard top!!!
The maps are my favorite but I also love the extra little touch added to the backs on the chairs in #1.
Love the map one! I want a grown up version :)
Thanks for the idea. I bought my son this at Christmas. Yay, new project here I come!
I did one of these last year as a first birthday present for my bf's nephew. I like the way it turned out, but a word of warning if you use fabric on the seats or table-top - it can make assembling the pieces difficult.
Here's my version: http://sweetsuite10.com/2012/04/a-first-birthday-ikea-and-more-than-a-little-cursing/
Love the map version!
my hack so far was just to cut off a few inches from the legs. makes it the perfect height for toddlers and way cheaper than the fancy Montessori tables
Does someone know where to find the map?
For the map table, I used Cavallini wrapping papers. Thanks everyone!
OMG. Cavallini has a bunch of these map papers! I want the London street map ... and the Central Europe map ... and the Underground map ...
