ugh.. "book art"...
Seconded, fcresenc.
I have loads of books and appreciate seeing diverse solutions to shelving them. I liked this posting.
While I really like the second photo's look, I wonder: how do you find out the book you want to read ? I seemed like a good idea to protect your books and archieve a nice look, but I'd mark the titles somehow. Otherwise, it's just a useless art installation.
The first, third, and fourth are lovely. The white wrapped... not so much. Where are the titles?
How are these "over the top"?
Ditto on what vykim posted; half the shelves are empty!
These are not over the top. #1 is a gorgeous but certainly not overly large collection. #2 is rather silly, but whatever. #3 looks like a lovely home library with not quite as lovely books. #4 is an entirely average book collection. Even #5 is probably fewer books than I own (in my small apartment), I just use my space more efficiently.
Agree that #2 is stupid but I like the rest simply because they're book collections. Don't need to add anything more. Just books.
Drool drool drool, more books please! :) I agree that #2 is idiotic, but there's so much to be done with books in design...
I've seen low fi book wraps.... with labels on them, of course. Or you could use translucent vellum. I'm more amused by people who organize their books by color, though- why no example of that here?
Low-fi as in kraft paper or white paper that comes on rolls.
Did anyone click through the link? Book collections are cool, but these are organized by a hired company. Is this an advertisement or not? I don't get it.
What. the hell. is the point? It's not a collection, it's props.
I agree. Not over-the-top, not one-of-a-kind, and not really even a collection. There's nothing particularly inspiring about this. I know we have some bibliophiles around here. Why not pull book images from some past house tours?
Funny that the first post is, 'ugh.' That was my first reaction as well. Seriously, a 'collection' of books is called a 'library.' You could have a post about displaying your library and avoid the 'c' word. Many of your readers are tired of it.
