Earlier this week, we told you about a Firefox extension that helped you get the best deals at Amazon. Since a lot of shopping nowadays is done online, and since there are quite a bit of online shops, we though that this Firefox extension would help you out even more. Read on after the jump to find out more!
The Invisible Hand extension works a bit differently than the BuyLater one. It not only works for Amazon, but for over 50 U.S. and UK retailer sites. A subtle drop-down bar tells you if you've got the best price on the Web.
The info will tell you the price difference between the site you are on and the one with the lowest price. It will also give you a link to that retailer, as well as a run down on prices at other sites by using the right-hand button. It doesn't slow down shopping or browsing. Naturally not all prices are indexed so you can still find better deals, however astute online shoppers will appreciate the potential savings that they will get. Also, the add-on doesn't factor in shipping costs. Some shops offer free shipping, so a 1% or 2% discount doesn't mean that much at the end of the day. However it's neat to be able to immediately see if you've got the best price. The Invisible Hand extension is free and works with Firefox.
Just like BuyLater, the online retailers pay the add-on developers a small commission with each sale:
If you buy a product after clicking on the button in an InvisibleHand notification, the retailer pays us a small commission. The price you pay is not affected by the commission. It would be the same price regardless of whether you used InvisibleHand.
