I know this isn't design related, but did anyone shop at the Brooklyn Fairway this past weekend? I was very dismayed - they raised prices on some items by almost a dollar and the turkeys were about .30 more per pound than the same brand/product at my local key food. There was also a wierd ham issue, but I won't go into that right now.

Just wondering if anyone else got burned...

I bought the cure book yesterday and have not put it down since. I think my little home is pretty good for what it is (it scored near the top of the questionnaire) but there's always of room for improvement. Unfortunately, being busy, and broke, I don't have the time or the money to invest in the place the way I should. I'm hoping to do a really thorough job on this place some day, it just probably won't be for a while (maybe summer, maybe in a year). I'm trying to apply little principles (cleaning a lot, fixing things that are broken, not having too much junk) and just generally keep in the spirit of the cure. I guess my question is, is there some kind of cure lite version to tide me over? What if you just don't even have the resources for a full one room remedy?

my little dream is a "library" of things to borrow, and lend, once we get tired of them for a while. Trade my cool lamp for your neat-o vase for a few months, you know, that kind of thing.

Unlikely to be a good idea among strangers? Probably. Maybe its just a trade-in system, not lending. Just something to freshen up our homes without spending $$$ for stuff we'd tire of in a while anyway.

Does anyone know anything about alternate floor sealers? I have some environmental allegies (AKA nobody knows what I have) and was thinking of using a wax or linseed oil finish in leiu of poly on my new floors. Having a hard time getting info and pics online. Thanks

About a year ago there was a photo on AT of an apartment with an arched doorway that someone had beautifully hand-(i think)stenciled so that the stencily part looked kind of like it was growing out of the arch/doorway. it look very Boontje and lovely. have no idea how to find, but i wonder if anyone can recall where this was. i'm thinking about doing something similar and would love a template.

I particularly remember Olga in that thread as the amazing stenciler. There might be another thread on her too. If you google apartmenttherapy and stencil, you might find whatever you're looking for.

i saw a fake white tree at Target today, decorated with silver balls with black flocked motifs. it was pretty snappy. it might be on their website.
