We're having my son baptized next month and I am having a very difficult time finding something simple for him to wear- preferably nothing satin, tuxedo-ish, or priest-ish. I was originally thinking something along the lines of a crisp linen or cotton romper...the weather here is unpredictable, so pants would be a must. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Do you mount eeBoo ABC cards on a wall? If so HOW? We just got those gorgeous cards in mail and I so do not want to pierce them through to put on a wall in our play room. My choices are limited though - we rent.
above each of my twins' crib, i mounted the abc cards using 3 removable adhesive tabs. of course, the wall started to look 'wheel of fortune'....i'd like to buy a vowel. so, i rehung the fallen letters with 6-7 tabs. they've haven't fallen since december.
Re. hanging the wall cards- we have the eeboo animal parade ones (my 2-year old loves them) hanging on the wall. We used the 3M poster strips to hang them. 6 months, nothing fell down. I put one strip right in the middle of each one. Those 3M ones are great, don't damage the wall or whatever you're sticking them too. It's the same as their awesome removable sticky hooks- I've used them for years in rentals, and no problems. Just make sure you press the sticky on real good or they might fall down.
Ophelia, we ordered our daughter's gown from this site. They have some nice knit and non-satin outfits for boys. www.onesmallchild.com
Ophelia, we got our boys' baptism outfits from the clearance section of the Strasburg Children website.
Nice, classic boys clothes from snips n snails could work, too. I've ordered from them frequently (love, love little boys in sailor suits!) and always been impressed.
ophelia, I felt the same way when my son was baptised. Luckily I have a mom who knows how to sew and she made me one of the rompers similar to this. She even used the fabric left over from making my wedding dress.
I love the British line Monsoon Kids, which does not ship outside the UK. Don't know what your requirements are size-wise, or whether the outfit must be white, but they are more modern and fun. I have found a lot of nice outfits (worn only for one or two special occasions) on EBay, for example:
Ophelia - NeimanMarcus.com has some cute linen "bubbles" that would work, as well as a white day gown. www.bestdressedchild.com has a very big selection as well. Good luck!

Thank you!
ophelia,
I saw this last night in the Hanna Andersson catalog, it might work for the baptism.

We had to go cheap since there were three of them, but you may be able to look in the non-sale section for your little one.
Regarding hanging the alphabet cards - we also used the 3M poster strips. Work like a charm!

Ophelia,
My favourite store for these sorts of outfits is Children's Salon in the U.K. -- don't worry, in my experience the shipping was reasonable and fast.
Here is just part of their boy's line for christening/baptism wear:

From your description, I thought this outfit might be the sort of thing you are looking for:
