The majority of the Thomas O'Brien line debuted at Target (and Target.com) this weekend. I'm curious what people think about it.
It's good-looking -- I find the Console Bureau particularly appealing -- but the furniture is expensive for the market. With a few pieces closing in on $500, they're definitely trying to up the ante. I wonder if Target is attempting to negate the sticker shock by premiering with several items on sale.
Just a rant about the Rupert Murdoch apartment article in Sunday's NY Times H&G section. Sorry but his wife is just a twit. There are far more serious things to worry about in the world than the likes of changing your wardrobe because you're moving uptown or how to accommodate a gym or a screening room in your new million dollar home... of which you have like 7?! Meanwhile half of the people that live in NY can barely afford their rent.
Marti - on the last open thread or so, I commented on a lot of the stuff. There are a few nice things, but a few other things are shockingly cheap-looking. Someone else said that they thought the textiles were mostly very nice. I thought the towels seemed OK, but I bet they will be linty for the first few months they're in use. Didn't see any of the other textiles.
The Thomas O'Brien stuff is like Paris Hilton: a beautiful silhouette with a cheap finish that would be hard to live with. http://seeingdesign.blogspot.com/
I agree....I'm late on this thread...but that Thomas O'Brien stuff at Target is awful! I was so excited for it to come out, I waited and waited, and when I finally saw it I was shocked at how cheaply made it was, and how high priced!
It's very depressing too, bad colours and patterns!
Target struck out on what could have been a home run!
