Hello all.
Does anyone have a great cabinet / furnature maker here in Boston?
I have a built in with a seat and shelving that I need built and also a custom wall desk.
I am looking for someone that can do clean modern work.
Thanks,
Luke
Luke,
I think I have the perfect cabinet maker for you. I'm just not sure if he'd want me posting his name and info. I'd be happy to email his contact and URL offline.
Thanks,
steve

I have a bedroom question. I'm looking to do a low cost upgrade, and would like to get wall mounted reading lamps. I like the ASTRID better, but the HUSVIK is also OK. Does anyone else have recommendations on inexpensive wall mounted reading lights? Are the IKEA ones bright enough? How about partner spillover?
"Partner spillover"? Oh my. ;)
does anyone know of a good, inexpensive upholsterer around the providence area?
I'd suggest you keep any partner spillover away from all outlets or lighting fixtures in order to avoid electrocution
anyone else see this?

Luke - There are some furniture makers in the Brighton area. Look on http://www.Yelp.com/Boston .
Bedroom lighting - in addition to wall mounts, you could consider hanging small lights from the ceiling. It's hard to find attractive wall mounted lights that work well in the bedroom. As far as "partner spillover" of the light variety, this version of a wall mounted light might prevent that: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10128748 I think it's bendy, kind of like a reading light.
that resin table looks interesting... but i wouldn't want to site on the parts on the floor, 'cause that would be spikey!
Actually Luke, my dad's a carpenter and may be able to build something for you. It depends on your location - he's based out of Ayer, MA. Drop him an email from his website, though!
Hey Guys! I am relatively new to the area and would love to hear your thoughts on great antique stores around the Boston area. Nothing fancy shmancy, more like the Brimfield Antique Fair goods but year round. I have been to the Cambridge Antique Market but would love to find more resources. Any tips?
Style Me Pretty-- wait until april and go to Todd Farm's
@Big Perm My friend Mark is one of the craftsmen for Furniture Design Services in Peabody. They do incredible work.

StyleMePretty,
I've had fairly decent luck over the years at the following places:
http://www.feltonstreetantiques.com in Waltham
Thoreauly Antiques and Upstairs Antiques in Concord
Sedler's in Georgetown
Haverhill has quite a few multi-dealer shops
Oldies Marketplace in Newburyport
If your focus is antiques furniture, then I would recommend going to the shops in Haverhill. The selection at Sedler's and Oldies has dwindled with the economy, but still worth a look.
