Beers were spilled, three bands played inside the kitchen, and about 40 or so people crammed into a tiny studio apartment for a rock show in Oakland this past weekend. We don't personally know the girl named Sasha who lived in the apartment, but we were impressed with her personal decorating style (great small space solutions!) and her being game to open her home to strangers for a cramped, but fun house show. Good combination of knick knacks and tons of great books. We admit we perused through some of her reading collection while we waited for the show to begin.

Oh man I miss living in Oakland.
I lived in a big three story art school flop house on Kempton Avenue that had a steady stream of random people coming in and out of it. I can guaruntee our place did not look this well put together.

This is making me nostalgic for my first apartment, in Albany on Hudson Avenue above a bodega. As soon as the bodega closed for the night...my roommates band would start playing in the living room...and the apartment would fill up with friends. Sigh.
Grey walls and a piano in the kitchen = wicked. Home is for living and I wish this woman lived closer to me.
wow, people thought I was crazy when I had a house show/party at my unit a few weeks ago, but that place is tiny! Such awesome decorations though, and that vinyl collection is amazing.
I loved having parties like these...when I was 23.
