Orangepiel is an online shop for custom window shades. In the past, a friend of mine was scouring the internet looking for exactly this option, and now, voila - a really well organized one stop shop to work with.
Step one is to either upload your own art or choose from the Orangepiel library of images.
If you are working with your own image, the online system currently just accepts JPGs, but if you contact Orangepiel they can also work with PSD, TIF and Illustrator files, among others.
And if you are looking for outside inspiration, the selection of images in the library is already quite varied - and growing.
Step two is selecting all your options - exact size, mounting style, fabric style, image orientation, etc.
Once that is done, you use the scaling tool, which is based on the measurements you uploaded in step two, to position the artwork on your shade and crop and adjust as needed. (it's easy!)
Then, you get to view a preview version of your shade, based on your work with the scaling tool.
Finally, you get the exact price and can either continue to adjust your custom shade OR add it to your cart.
Check out the Orangepiel site right here for all the details.

These are really cool! I LOOOOVVVEE the first ones! Cannot afford though :(
I currently have black vinyl blackout shades. Does anyone know whether it would be possible to get a pattern put on them? I especially was thinking the vinyl wall decor could work. Or maybe paint of some kind?
Really nice idea... and, no doubt, hilariously out of my price range.
*is bitter*
Maybe this could be a DIY. Think you could buy roller shades and glue on some fabric?
It seems like you could attach fabric or wallpaper or vinyl decals to standard window shades.
i used the price estimator on the blog page for a general idea of the cost...cool page too
I think it is a cool idea, but $400 to cover a patio door, it is more than I am willing to spend, especially since I change my window covering seasonally. I know I would get tired of one image after a while.
Awesome idea!! it is really attractive.
Thanks for sharing...
