There's no greater feeling than going to sleep in a perfectly neat and beautiful bedroom. The floors free and clear of clutter and everything put neatly away where they belong. Nothing left out to show any signs of disorganization — just beauty, simplicity and organization.
Make it a priority this first month of a new year to get your bedroom organized. Start slow and work your way up if the initial task seems too daunting. Dedicate a weekend to organize and rearrange your bedroom — monday morning will thank you.

I have found that the prettier and more comfortable my bedroom is, the more I want to keep it tidy.
These are neat and beautiful, but for me bedrooms that are 10'X11' and under are more inspiring since they're more like my own.
I think the next trend we are going to see is intensely-coloured traditional Persian-type (not all are Persian rugs, some are Kilims, etc.) rugs. Look at what a difference the rug makes in that first picture! Look at how vibrant the rug makes the room look in Janel's room -- http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/chicago/organizing/the-distance-from-sofa-to-tv-135983
And speaking personally, the trend may finally address my problem with the resurrection of MCM design pieces: they were often matched with deep-red persian rugs at the time, but now are matched with rugs that are MCM-inspired, and the resulting rooms lack the dynamism and liveliness of the original.
My bet, anyway.
I agree with Miami's Elaine. These huge palatial bedrooms are nothing like mine, so I can't really relate.
I absolutley love these rooms and wish my bedroom could look like this. It would probably never happen since I live in a tiny house, but a girl can dream. Great inspirational post.
man, these are huge bedrooms, i am so jealous.
I love love love our tiny bedroom. It's super easy to keep tidy because.... there's not much in it other than a bed. The closet is in another room! Every night I go to bed in a clutter-free room, and it always feels amazing.
This is kind of off topic, but I just wanted to say how much I agree with mschatelaine. I love the look of kilims and persian rugs with modern furniture and it's a look I've gone for in my home.
While I currently have a pretty large bedroom (12x19) I prefer a smaller room--it feels more cozy and intimate.
wha. it's like my kind of place. cept, when i think i do get my own sq footage i'll "give myself a holiday" of say, maybe, one two weeks to 'go messy', and fraid i'll never return from that.. !! but right now, i live like these pictures. nothing out of place. my parents are WAYYYYyyy too messy. too much white noise. my room (HAS TO BE) is neat.
(just to add - picts 2's not too bad cos the bricks 'balance' off the neatness..well, ...end-up space do NOT look too sparse because the bricks details =) nice balance =)
I prefer a cozy bedroom, too. When trying to sleep in a large room, I feel exposed, almost as if sleeping outdoors. I think that Susan Susanka makes good points in her Not So Big series.
I have had this critique about AT spaces, too, particularly bathrooms and closets, but I do think these bedrooms have ideas that are scalable. Many are a mix of rustic and modern. Which makes me wonder: is the mix of rustic and modern getting a bit overdone? I like it, but I'm not sure if the combination of sleek glass or bright white fixtures/linens with craggly old wood is going to wear well over time. Thoughts?
i'm with cashew. i have a tiny room with a bed, dressing table and side table. the wardrobe is in the other room.
I love the Moroccan rug is #5. The last picture of the large wood square pattern is beautiful!
ricestein, I like and use a mix of modern and rustic. It was the natural result of my seeking comfort, durability, beauty, and low maintenance, so I expect that the look will wear well over time. I also like the unusual, and global folk design is a way to get that, too.
I downsized from a 14x18 to a 10x14. While it is so much smaller, it definitely does feel more cozy. I love the room in #3 though
Not one of those bedrooms has wall-to-wall carpeting, and I have never lived anywhere that didn't have it in the bedrooms. (Just an observation, since I think carpeting makes a space cozier and often seem smaller and less spacious.)
I agree with many of you: I prefer a smaller bedroom -- it feels and more protected and sheltered. But I know this is personal taste -- I like smaller spaces in general, and there are many who really love large spaces.
Traditional Middle Eastern/Asian rugs of all sorts are beautiful, and I like them with practically any other kind of furniture -- traditional, modern, anonymous, whatever.
I also thought Sherry made an interesting point about no carpeting. Many of the rooms had bare floors. While I have bare wood floors throughout my apartment, I have a soft rug in the bedroom -- that's one place in particular where having a rug or carpet is really nice on your bare feet.
Bedrooms are my favorite kind of room -- so personal!
Carpets and rugs can be very pretty. However, they're too difficult to keep clean enough with pets, a garden, and allergies, so I have only door mats over terrazzo. I've considered Flor tiles. Some allergic people tolerate bedroom mats if they're laundered frequently.
all lovely, but i don't see much "organization" going on in these pictures.. just rooms with nothing but a bed & a couple other pieces in them, which of course looks great and very calming.
i love that chair in the last one.. anyone know where i can find something similar?
I'm with hiroshima -- a room with nothing in it can't really be called "organized."
