"Small" can be a relative term, but almost all the images here are from studios or one-bedroom apartments — there's even a camper thrown in the mix (Image 6). Other examples show how small spaces such as nooks and closets can be used to their full potential.

White Enamel Flatwa...
I'd love to see more posts on how to fit a computer into a living room. That corner computer desk is a good idea but I'd like to see more. We're having a really hard time figuring it out as our living is quite small and most desks just don't work style-wise.
The picnic table, if you follow the link it says she seats 6-8 people at it. How? Do they shinny under it to the back side? Or do they have to pick up the table and turn it whenever they're having company? Why just not leave it with both long sides accessible?
I would like to see some ideas about how to fit a bar area into a living room.
@Rainarana: We had the same issue, then decided it wasn't working having only a desktop. We use a CPU and wi-fi, which we hide under the bed, and use our laptops to work off the wi-fi. That way we can use any flat surface (dining room table, coffee table, our laps, etc) for work and tuck it away after we're done. Office supplies are also hidden but easily accessible. Our only challenge for the moment is hiding our printer/copier/scanner combo, it's a little on the bulky side.
Very cute spaces. I'm starting to really want to hang shelves in my tiny bedroom because of posts like these. I desperately need more storage space.
We actually have an iMac sitting on an industrial Go Cart desk from CB2. Obviously, Apple computers tend to be more aesthetically pleasing and streamlined. I think you just have to ask yourself whether your own computer, PC or Mac, looks sleek enough to go with the rest of your room. Going industrial and multi-purposed helps--a wall mounted desk, an industrial typewriting table, a smaller drafting table, a secretary desk that hides away the computer.
Along with the iMac, we have some vintage cameras and projectors on display on the table top in order to match the industrial vintage modern aesthetic that we have. It helps that we don't also have a TV, so it's not electronics overboard.
@Dilly Dally - I would love to do something like that but we have two desk-tops. I have an office, I work from home so that isn't a problem. I also have a laptop for when I work away from home but my boyfriend hates laptops. My office isn't really big enough for the two of us and even if it was I'd have to be able to get work done. I have a vintage Steelcase, which works great for me, but he has a smaller Steelcase which he loves but just doesn't work. We're still trying to put the room together, building shelves, trying to figure out a landing strip so it should work with all of that as well. And the room has a weird shape, which doesn't help.
Juliacori - I had the exact same issue recently, and solved it with this compact bar cart: http://www.flickr.com/photos/35744427@N00/6723546917/
I've done the whole "desk in a closet" thing. It doesn't work if you don't have an electrical outlet in it... unless you want to drag in an ugly extension cord/surge bar. Unfortunately, these pics always disguise the reality of cords and actually being able to USE the spaces.
However, I do give applause for the ideas. A lot of them I wouldn't have thought of.
The Rodelle image is a fantastic bedroom set up. Especially love the open closet. Wish I could trick my wife into that, but open doors make her paranoid while she sleeps.
@RAINARANA I thought it was going to be odd having our computer hooked up to the TV, but my son did it anyway. He also got a wireless keyboard and mouse so we could control it from a distance. It works great, plus we can now watch netflix without waiting for the Wii! :) The keyboard and mouse store easily and I have a wireless printer incase I need to print anything.
Now this is great use of small space!
I am alSo a terrible napped. Icing do get to sleep I wake up cranky, and I appreciate knowing others have the same problem . Sure wish I could, though.
Sorry for that mess of a post. It's iPad fingers. What I meant to say is I am also a terrible napper who wakes up cranky if I do manage to get to sleep.
Bottom row? There are only two rows of pictures.
