Organize Spare Notions For Easy Mending

Martha Stewart

I have a thing for mending items that are worn out or are in need of repair. I'd much rather get out a needle and thread instead of casting it off or buying something new. But with all those little extra buttons that come with clothing these days, how do you keep track of them? Junk drawer? Not if you're Martha Stewart!

For years I'd stash away the extra buttons or notions that came with my clothing. Things would flip flop from one junk drawer to the next, just waiting to be put to use. Then, inevitably the time would come and that third button would pop right off my pea coat. To the junk drawer I'd go, sifting through pens, batteries, spare keys, tape... but where was that button?

Avoid all that headache and create yourself a notions binder. Keep it with your craft supplies, but make life easy and attach each one to a card with the name of the piece that it goes to (ie: blue pencil skirt). Then next time you have a mishap, you'll be all set and for an added bonus, these items will be easily found and could be packed for your next trip so you'll never be without!
