Whether you're a collector, hoarder, or famed "stuff keeper"; you can definitely relate to these homes. Living in organized chaos isn't an easy task. All you need is great organizational skills and know how to put everything in its perfect place.
The difference between the everyday messy-man and someone living in organized chaos is one key word — organization. You just have to know where everything is at all times. A lot of us are living in tight urban spaces and don't have enough closet space to keep our things. I'm assuming these homes have a similar dilemma. You just have to know the importance of shelving and keeping a "system" to your chaotic life.

White Enamel Flatwa...
I want my ceiling to look like this!
i always think it's funny when places like this are posted and the invariable flood of "that would drive me crazy!" or "oh my god, the dusting!" comments come in, because i look at these pictures and think, "yep, that's about right."
I dream of whole walls of bookshelves but these don't really do it for me. They seem too higgledy-piggledy and the books stacked up on their sides is a particular bugbear of mine. How do you easily access the ones of the bottom of the stack if there's half a dozen heavy coffee table books on top of it.
The patterns created by "lot's of stuff" always fascinate me. But, I think for it to work, you need those nice, high ceilings.
I guess I didn't need that apostrophe. :-/
Finally, places that look like mine! My apartment is becoming over time the folk art equivalent of an old British manor house. These walls are made for coverin'. :)
These do always look intriguing, but as I'm looking at each one, the thought of the visual clutter and of the dust overwhelms me. I love the idea of living in a place like this, but I think I would hate the reality.
I like lots of clean, smooth surfaces so I can dust rarely but completely. Don't wanna be a curator.

Nope, sorry, I still can't see these as being tidy. I'm with Mary on the visual clutter thing...plus the paper mites!
beautiful. but not for me. even looking at them, i can't breathe.
Wow, this completely goes against Maxwell's philosophy (for so many reasons) way back when he started this blog. I'm not feeling the "therapy" in these apartments. I'm with bkbrownstone.
Some of these are a bit claustrophobic-feeling, yes, but I do enjoy seeing houses with books. In so many of the house tours on here, I find myself wondering where the people keep their books.
...nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.
just no.. i would loose my mind. ((: nice colours though.
I like these photo's because there is 'SO much to look at'.
I have to say that this would be a nightmare of dusting for me even though I do collect books.
Also, the use of "hoarder" which is a medical condition and incredibly debilitating was very irksome. I'm sure it wasn't meant that way, but it's right up there with calling your design style "schizophrenic" which I hope no one ever does (or has).
Hi there, on an unrelated note, are you guys at AT having technical difficulties today with your server by any chance?
My daughter would love this. She's such a book worm. Although, I'm always the one organizing her books...hmmm...hey!
