Some of these films have also been nominated for Art Direction, and some have not. Yet even the most humble interior informs its story and plays an integral role in how we experience the film. Which interiors struck a chord with you? Was it the magic of Paris? The glamour of the silent screen? The steampunk charm of a train station? Or maybe, the simple comfort of a lived-in space, not unlike your own? Whatever it was, chances are, at least one of these films will live on in your design subconscious long after the winners have been announced...
Are there other movies from this last year that should be recognized for their interiors, as well?

Shaw's Original Fir...
I live in Jackson, MS (where The Help was filmed) and am currently looking for a house in one of the neighborhoods in which the film was shot. I can say that some of the bathrooms STILL look like this. As much as I'd love to keep the "old charm" of the house, renovations would be underway immediately.
I loved the house in The Decendents! Great colors, amazing porch, artworks and especially the Hawaiians textiles and quilts.
I want a pink toilet.
Tree of Life isn't on the list that I can tell but I would *kill* to have that kitchen.
Oh, wait, yes it is. Definitely the Tree of Life kitchen. The sets in that movie are stunning. I love the house from the opening scene as well.
KRGR1428- you can have mine.
Totally, Midnight in Paris.
Haven't seen Hugo though, and so that is a possibility as well. My daughter has the book, and it is stunning.
The house in The Descendent was much much better than the movie.
I second the love for the design in The Tree of Life. There are some nice mid century modern gems sprinkled in the movie.
Not a nominee but I just saw Carnage and loved the living room. Good thing because the entire movie took place in it.
I am rather behind on movies this year, but I saw The Descendants two weeks ago and I loved the houses. Especially the rooms with a view of the garden - all the greenery, the colours, the light!
I thought the movie was really good - much better than I, in fact, expected.
Too bad Beginners wasn't nominated for Best Picture. That had my favorite interiors (and exteriors) of any movie last year -- Christopher Plummer's character's house, which is actually Neutra's Lovell house.

I even loved Melanie Laurent's little studio in New York.
W./E. by Madonna has stunning interiors. AT should have a post on them.
