An event came across my desk that absolutely made my day. Otherworldy, a current exhibition at New York City's Museum of Arts and Design features the gathered works of 37 artists who've created amazingly miniature worlds.
In our current digital age where the virtual is the reality, a current show at NYC's Museum of Arts and Design explores the material world on a much smaller scale. Perhaps the largest exhibition of its kind, Otherworldy: Optical Delusions and Small Realities, presents miniature worlds, from snow globes to dioramas created in painstaking detail. These impressive worlds of "magic realism" present scenes like simple life as we know it to more fantastical settings, but all with the intent to make one consider and re-experience the actual and tangible world we live in now.
For those staying in New York for what looks to be a stormy Labor Day, Otherworldy will make a great indoor weekend activity.
