Recently Mimi of Shiso Mama threw a birthday party for her son Otis (you probably remember seeing his clutter free play room). Instead of letting mass amounts of children overtake her home, she threw the party at an old fashioned carousel or merry-go-round. The results are fabulous, take a look for yourself!
The guests were served carousel style cupcakes, which were topped by sugar cookies made in an animal cracker pan (found at Williams Sonoma). Each guest was sent a themed invitation and had a blast going round and round time and time again on the carousel. They're just as cute as cute can be and when it was time to go they all departed with a goodie bag filled animal crackers to leave them remembering the sweet times they had that day.
You can read more details about his party over at Shiso Mama!
Thanks Mimi!
*Happy belated birthday Otis, thanks for sharing your day with us!

Love love love the idea, being a carousel fan myself. Wondering if my Maya would like to have one like this when she turns 4.
Anybody knows if one can reserve a carousel for a party or not? Without it being an extravagant affair.
We didn't reserve the entire carousel. The carousel where our party was held is part of a district park, so they charged us a nominal fee to reserve some tables, and we paid money for the tickets. It was pretty low-key. The carousel was still open to the public, but it wasn't too crowded. I think many carousels also offer party packages, too.
Great idea! My daughter's daycare is nearby a carousel.
