I've relied on the standard Apple charger for my phone and tablet for years now, but just because chargers are a necessity doesn't mean they can't be interesting. Here's a roundup of five unusual and fun chargers, in case you, or someone on your gift list, want to shake things up.

Woodtec Charging Stand: Those of you who already have the iPhone 5 probably don't have a lot of choices yet when it comes to getting a fun docking station. That's why DIY is so awesome. Woodtec makes docking stations made from different types of wood. This one was made specifically for the iPhone 5 with the Apple lightning cable installed.

Une Bobine iPhone Charger: I always thought the Bobine charger was cool because not only can you twist it in whatever way works best for you, it also looks awesome when you twist it into a stand and your phone is sitting straight up on it.

Android Robot Charger: I can't get over how cute the Android robot is no matter how many different cases, chargers and accessories I see. I'd love to have this little guy sitting at my desk or night stand, ready to charge my phone.

Hidden Popup Outlet: Perfect for the kitchen, this popup outlet is convenient for space saving. Pull it out when you need it and tuck it back in when you're finished.

Booksi: Another DIY favorite of mine are Booksi docks. Pairing tech with natural things like wood has the same charm and appeal as pairing tech with paper and books. This is the perfect way to decorate your space with your favorite books but also double function them as a dock.

If only Apple made a longer cord / charge cable... the one they currently sell is TOO SHORT!
SO TRUE! There should be some sort of extension available...

They do sell longer ones. I uses to have a 6ft cord for my iPhone 4 awhile back. You just have to order them online. Belkin is the company I bought mine from.
Get longer cords on Amazon. I don't know why anyone would get these chargers but I guess some like them.
I have a Woodtec stand for my iPhone 4. It works flawlessly and looks beautiful on my desk. I highly recommend it.
