We see outdoor living room spaces, dining tables with full course meals served outside on decks and in back yards, so what about bringing traditional outdoor decor to your indoor space?
I found this image on Designed For Life, and I love the idea of the hammock indoors. It's playful and yet still functional. I think it brings a great casual element to any home or room.
Would you ever put a hammock in your living room? What elements of outdoor decor, would you consider bringing indoor?

Some outdoor furniture can also look great indoors, but a hammock in the living room? It just doesn't do it for me.
I would enjoy a hammock indoors if there was room to walk around it. Hopefully this one can be unclipped at one end and draped out of the way between uses.
Never mind the hammock; look at all those wonderful bookcases!
Oh I love this. I have a fairly sunny (but open unfinished) basement with poles like this that I may attempt to hang a hammock on. Its lovely and cool down there in summer, so this seems like the perfect setup.
Love. It. I would be all over this idea if I had a big enough space for it to work and make sense in.
Maybe in the corner of a bedroom or tv room. I wouldn't put it smack dab in the middle of the living room. I once did have a traditional wood picnic table with attached benches painted a cool blue in my kitchen.
I just hung a hammock in my dining-room-turned-workspace. It's right in front of a sunny window and my favorite place relax. I'm also looking to use outdoor, clear bulb, string lights in my living room.
My downstairs neighbors have a hammock and it's great. I unfortunately don't have the space. Sigh.
I have a hammock in my living room. It is the best decision I have made in a long time.... :)
I wish I had enough room to try this! Hammocks ROCK!
In my hometown (Belem, in the middle of the Amazon Jungle, Brasil) each single room has a hook for hammocks. It's used for naps, extra siting, extra bed when you have guests.
Jesus, you're from Belém and say that we live "in the middle of the jungle"... That's why foreing ppl think we actually live in a jungle, like "savages"--that's such a distorted view on Brazilian culture that still today feeds prejudice and violance! Oh my, Im sad... :(
Amazon is a rainforest area, not a jungle!!
Anyway, having a hammock in the living room (as well as other rooms in the home) is very common in the Northest region in Brazil :\
I don't have the space to put up a hammock so I bought a hanging chair in a garden center. Here's a picture: http://ploefff.wordpress.com/2011/03/14/da-jeg-fik-gult-kort-af-symaskinen/
I like the idea. Wish I had the space. I would've choosen a different hammock though. All those disorganized books/clutter would not allow to relax in the hammock. Its their space; not mine.
Those are my thoughts.
Nice idea, just not in the middle of my living room.
My parents have a hammock in their living room, it looks horrible but omg its definitely the best place to take a nap in that house. I would love to have one in my house but alas, my place is to small to be able to fit it in there and make it look good.
Want one, want one, want one! But could someone tell me how to hang one safely in a traditional woodframe house? Are ordinary wall studs strong enough? What kind of hooks? Or from the ceiling? How do I do it?
I have a hammock (on a wooden stand) and an outdoor dining table (with umbrella!) inside my home. The Chesapeake collection from Pottery Barn, cardinal red fabrics. Living in Houston, there aren't many days when the weather is nice enough to enjoy being outside and there are no insects inside either.
AH!! I've been wanting to do this in my loft for a while! I love love love hammocks.
