The great thing about San Francisco is that the winters are never so extreme that we wouldn't be able to enjoy this fantastic outdoor fireplace. The bad thing about San Francisco is that no one I know actually has a yard to house said fireplace. So, I will just have to admire this structure of warmth and wood from afar.

Using leftover materials from a construction site, Haugen/Zohar Architects built this structure with 80 layers of pine (each made with 28 pieces of wood) that are connected with small oak separators. The result, especially at night, is both comforting and stunning.

This is extremely cool - really, really want one in my back yard!
Want!
It looks like that thing from the movie Where the Wild Things Are. Brilliant movie. Very modern and earthy set and furnishings; so classic and organic! A must see!
That is so cool. It's like a modern teepee. It would be so fun to have a little get together there w/ s'mores and games!
Very cool now, but I kinda get the heebie jeebies thinking about the thousands of spiders that will soon take up residence in all the nooks and crannies!
