Ah, Green. Sarah uses the fabulous potato vine to cover as much ground as possible, and boy does it work:
"I have about 60 sq/ft which I recently covered in deck tiles (!). I always try to make my outdoor space as green as possible... almost jungle like. I line the railings with various types of sweet potatoes, which create a curtain of vines by the end of summer..."

quiet retreat at the end of the day. My kitties appreciate the space
as well!"

Dear Sarah,
I am in love with your cats.
Vanessa
Oh, if only Manhattan apartments (read: manhattan apartments that I can afford) came with such great outdoor space. Sarah, you have really done a great job. I love the deck tiles.
The perfect outdoor retreat, all the space you need! Love your plants and furniture and floor, well, I guess I love all of it!
Absolutely lovely. Well done Sarah!
Sarah, where is the bistro set from?
Love it! Beautiful colors, the plants and the table.
The deck tiles look great.
Sarah, I also want to know where you got your bistro set. I decided yesterday that I need one. Ideally, I would prefer one made of painted wood (not a fancy wood). I want to recreate the old-charm of French country. If anyone, know a store or a brand, I will appreciate your help.
Ditto on wanting any information about this or a similar bistro table.
Here's a blue bistro set.

Here's another, this may be the same one:

I meant the same as the one from Sarah's space, not in the previous link by 2nd DC Christine.
My cats! What are you doing with my cats?! Oh - not my cats - mine would be over the railing already. Sure look like them, though.
Seriously Sarah - you have a great space there. Looks like a lovely place to unwind after a hard day at work.
hey... Thanks for all the wonderful comments! The bistro set is originally from Smith and Hawkins. It had started showing its age after about five years of outdoor use, so I gave it a quick spay paint face lift this spring.
Btw, here is the (on sale!) link for S&H chair and table:

I have a grey Maine Coon that looks just like yours! My cat couldn't be trusted with a balcony, we already had an incident of him falling out the window and hanging onto the ledge for dear life! The deck tiles make the balcony look really cozy.
YAYYYY The Tiles turned out wonderful! I can't believe how fast you move. It looks sooo great and sooo peaceful. I need you back out in LA to help me work with my space! I did finally get the back potter done this week though which is a step, thanks to your inspiration!!!
Your cocktail retreat looks WONDERFUL!!!
LOVE. THIS. PATIO! One of my favorites and I guess I'm behind the times but I've never seen deck tiles before and I absolutely love them. I will definitely keep them in mind. Thanks Sarah and wonderful job!
Wonderful space ! So far , my favourite entry ! Enjoy summer, Sarah.
this is wonderful! great job!!
Hi,
I live in Brooklyn and have a small outdoor space. I've seen those tiles at several online stores. Where did you get them? I'm on a budget, so does anyone know where the cheapest place would be? Photos look great!
This is perfection. If you could somehow squeeze in a hammock you'd never have a reason to go indoors.
Sarah - I hope you're still checking here for comments - I've now seen deck tiles in several postings (I think yours was the first) and I'm not even sure where to begin researching for them. Can you give me some info? Are they actually called 'deck tiles'? Do you just lay them on the surface or do you have to do something ie: glue them before you install them?
Thanks!
You can find out more information on this fabulous deck tiles at www.decktiles.org. They are also in New York.
