I had to drag myself indoors today to finish up some pesky odds and ends of the work world. After playing all day in the sun, the last thing I wanted to do was go back to my depressing office. This summer I am making a pledge to do as much work as I can outdoors.
I started by collecting ideas for how to make the ultimate open-air office. So far I have come up with a few helpful hints. One, make sure to pick a spot with ample shade. Looking at a laptop in direct sunlight is never fun. Secondly, find the right chair with enough back support. Lawn chairs do not cut it when you have to get real work done. The next tip is that a power source is always a plus. You don’t want a dead battery to hold you back. A half indoor and half outdoor office space is always a wonderful option because it allows you the best of both worlds. Finally, a glass of ice tea makes any workday better. Add a little mint and you might even feel like you are on vacation!

I am imagining the second level of the second photo is made of trampoline.
DON'T RUIN MY FANTASY!
I dream of a space like this... someday

I especially love the 4th one.
I love it when the sun shins.
These are incredibly appealing but incredibly not doable in our fast-changing climate here in central NYS. *sigh* Besides, they'd get too hot inside on the hot days. They'd need AC.
I just recently bought a small table and comfortable chair to work outside in the shade under the maple tree. For various reasons (a shared lawn that is maintained by the landlord) I can't have permanent lawn furniture...but even if the small folding table and lawn chair are not as good as the admittedly amazing options above, it definitely beats working in my office whilst gazing longingly outside.
Perfect timing - just the inspiration I needed this week to get started on my own indoor-outdoor workspace! Thanks!
