Last week I brought you Farmhouse Sink inspiration and I admitted that what initially attracted me to them was their oversized shape. I dream of the day that my sink won't be filled to the brim after only a few dishes.
It's a shame that the average house doesn't have an ample sized kitchen sink and luckily, there are so many different kinds that can be installed (with a little countertop modification, of course). Oversized sinks can be made out of poured cement, porcelain, marble or well, just about anything. The rustic look of an oversized poured cement sink will transport you back to that tropical vacation. It exudes a relaxed, rustic and romantic vibe that'll make you want to spend all of your time in the kitchen.
A more streamlined approach is marble or stainless steel. Those materials used in an oversized format will modernize the kitchen while still maintaining a slightly vintage feel. Of course, oversized vintage porcelain sinks are still alive and well if you aren't lucky enough to have one in your kitchen, they're easily found. White is the most popular, but how can you resist a powder blue oversized country sink?

Love that 4th sink!
I want one like this for my hall bathroom. Here's hoping I can find a good deal on a vintage one.
Nope. As beautiful as a large sink is, it just invites dishes to sit forever!
I wouldn't mind an oversized sink for a kitchen, but what do you need a large sink for in the bathroom? Personally, I'd like more counter space than sink space.
Though, I love the concept of that last one... double sinks in one!
I would love a large sink. One of the things holding me back on getting a bigger cutting board, or anything else, is "will it fit in the sink or dishwasher?" question. We have a cast iron (heavy!!) wok that doesn't quite fit in our small squarish apartment sink, and it is a pain in the ass to wash. I never use it.
Another vote for large sinks! Casserole dishes, bowls, platters, roasting trays - I want them large and have them large. Unfortunately, my sink is not :( Drives me nuts.
yes
I definitely love them for the kitchen. They add such a fun element to how you cook and clean in your home. And I find they are easier to clean when they're bigger too.
Not so much for the bathroom. I'm a minimalist bathroom user. Granted, I like luxurious bathrooms as much as the next person, but I don't need much for sink or counter space in there.
I love them all!!!
And, pinkalbatross, the dirty dishes go from the table straight to the dishwasher!
I'd love a sink large enough to wash a cookie sheet without having to flip it from side to side to rinise it...
