Owo Changer & Kawa Wall by Timkid

It's the Murphy bed of changers. Experienced parents often advise new parents to skip the changing table - why devote the space to it when they'll more often find themselves changing diapers on the bed, the floor, or the nearest available surface? And once the miracle of potty training is bestowed, changing tables can seem to just take up space. Dutch company Timkid has come up with two space-saving wall-mounted changing tables that have no footprint and can be repurposed as desks later.

The owl-shaped Owo Changer (above) is designed to hold up to 220 lbs. of weight. It has three shelves to hold diapering supplies which will be out of sight when the Owo is closed. To entertain your baby, a toy or picture can be hung from a hook at the top as a mobile. The body of the Owo is birch plywood, but the top part is available in 6 colors.

The Kawa Wall is similar in design, but with a rectangular shape. It's available in birch or white plywood.

The Owo costs 274 Euros and the Kawa is slightly more at 289. There doesn't appear to be a U.S. distributor, but the company will ship to the U.S. We really like the concept Murphy-bed concept of these changers - what do you think?

Why not just buy an actual desk and pretend it's a changing table. Nobody ever uses a changing table unless it's their first baby.

I love this-it's the perfect non-changing table changing table. I was using a koala changing station at a restaurant recently and was thinking why isn't there something non-plastic like it for home use? And that it becomes a desk is even better! This would even make a great landing strip-like a charging/changing station.

I've seen this type of changing table at IKEA in years past.

Charmesh - when our son was born, we had no way of getting my husband's cumbersome oak desk and hutch out of the second bedroom. When baby surprised us by being born early, we put a changing pad on it, and voila, instant changing table!

Hi~ I use Stokke "Care" changing table and god if we use it. My dh and I are both 6 feet tall and I used to find it really taxing on my back to change diapers and pamper my son in the process while leaning on a desk or bed. For us it was the best thing we could buy. The diaper changing is now a great occasion to kiss and make eye contact, and it holds all his cloth diapers and outfits, toys, products and a nice circus lamp he loves to stare at. And it becomes a desk, too....

This is gorgeous! I've been planning to do the wall-mounted Ikea Gulliver changing table. It's not nearly as pretty, but it's the same concept. If only this were a bit less costly, I'd order one immediately.

And this is for my second child. We did use the changing table early on and it was super convenient. I want something wall mounted to go in or near the bathroom, though, because that makes more sense to me in terms of washing hands after changing diapers, storing stinky diapers, etc.

I also have the stokke table, and it's worth its weight in gold. We *still* use it, and my daughter is nearly 3! (She's not potty trained, but we're working on it).

Still, I love the idea of these tables, especially since you can likely find a place for it in the bathroom, as Katie D remarked.
