Name: Paige (18 months)
Location: Westford, MA
Color Inspiration: I decided I didn't want the nursery to be too girly. I just wanted it to feel cheerful, warm, inviting, and fun. During my pregnancy, a friend gave me a gift from Mama Mio that had blue packaging that I loved. I matched up the color to a swatch at the paint store and I had the wall color! I chose yellow as an accent when we found out we were having a girl. I was going to do rust orange if the baby were a boy. I felt yellow would be fun and easy to find accessories with.
Tip for Using Color: My tip would be to let one color be a backdrop hero while another color does the "pop." Sort of a "Batman and Robin" thing where there's a hero behind a hero. Choose just a scant few colors that match your backdrop hero and also go pretty well together too. 3 or 4 would be more than enough. Going too crazy with color can create chaos for the eyes and who wants that? (How's THAT for alliteration?)
Colors Used: Wall paint is Benjamin Moore #618 Robin's Nest. The yellow is just a basic sunshine yellow. There are hints of rust orange, magenta and green as well.
Thanks for your colorful entry Megan and good luck!

Nomade Express Slee...
great job on the room! where did you get that cute elephant hamper?
Thanks! The Elephant Hamper is from Home Decorators Collection; I ordered it from the website. It's the medium sized one in the honey color. :)
forget that cute elephant, where'd you get that CHAIR?!? That chair is screaming "come rock me!!!" I love it. Such a gorgeous happy nursery, I hope you enjoy it for years to come!
Thanks!! It is a $9 Salvation Army find. It is green and fuzzy (a bright moss green that didn't match the room). So, I got a slipcover made in a daffodil color from Calico Corners. It's quite squeaky when it rocks, but I guess that's part of it's charm! :)
Great colors! This is a familiar room...along with a couple others for small kids/big color. Were some of the entries featured on the site already?
Great room! Where did you find the cute yellow bedding?
Where did you get the yellow bedding? It is great!
Hi Rebecca,
Yep! This room was shown in the past, but the rules said rooms that were featured before could be entered in the contest.
Thanks! The bedding was from Nurseryworks and I'd gotten it at modernnursery.com. It's been discontinued, but that brand makes unique bedding!
I'm wondering about the shelving - looks like Ikea. Is it best to have that in a kids' room? I would be afraid of a kid trying to climb it (I have two little boys...who I know would try!)
Love, love, love the color combo!!
Love the color combo- used the same in my daughters room :-)
Melichan, it's worked out great so far! It's from Ikea. It comes with the equipment for anchoring it to the wall so that it won't topple over. It seems pretty sturdy. If you were worried about them falling, maybe this wouldn't be the best solution for you. Ikea makes some great wall shelves that you can mount up higher where they can't reach? We are using some in the playroom right now that are working out really well.
