I really wanted to add some color to my new apartment without painting an entire room. My space had some pretty ugly door thresholds, why not revamp them with a bright color? A quick cure for the common boring room.
I had a bright shade of orange paint laying around that I couldn't find a use for. I had been trying to revamp my hideously tiled home office with pops of color in a rug, bright books, and even some awesome colorful artwork. I just couldn't shake these ugly floorboards that were positioned in each of the doorways. Since my desk chair and accent color is orange in the space, I figured it was finally time to put good use to my orange paint.
The result is just a little pop of color without that horrifying, "You painted a room bright orange?" blank stare I'd get from most of my guests. All-in-all, if you're looking to add a touch of fun to a room without the commitment of paint...just paint a floorboard or two!

White Enamel Four-P...
That's pretty clever! Though, mind you, you couldn't do it with a marble door threshold.
Very pretty! I convinced my in laws to do a very similar color on their front door!
I like your rug - where did you get it?
most south indian homes have their threshold painted a sunny lovely yellow and my grandmother used to smear our threshold with turmeric every friday and dress it with vermillion...it made our homes festive :)
and forgot to mention, about the rice flour design we put for religious purposes...:)
Love the rug. Where is it from?
What about tile instead? I don't love the painted look, but a really mosaic might be good...
That's something I wouldn't have thought of- there was a (terrible) door feature in Martha Stewart a few months ago, the only reasonable (as in, not a ton of work for a tacky result) suggestion was painting the thin edges of doors with a surprise bright color.
Looks very '80s.
Is that a canvas floorcloth? It's lovely. And I like the idea of cheerfully painted thresholds.
