Hopefully, you followed our previous post about making a set of personalized dishes and are right now sipping tea from a mug your child painted. If dishes are too big of a commitment for you, how about a stack of painted cloth napkins? Quirky Momma Rachel Miller laid out a couple of yards of linen fabric and let the kids draw and paint all over the fabric. To really get things going, consider letting the kids use non-conventional tools for the project. Rachel let the kids use spoons for the paint instead of just paint brushes. Once dry, follow the manufacturer's directions for the type of paint you used for washing. Rachel washed her fabric on the hot setting with vinegar to set the paint. Cut into napkin-sized squares and you've got perfect table linens. For more photos of Rachel's process, head over to her blog — Quirky Momma. (Images: Rachel Miller)

Oh I wanna do it!
i absolutely LOVE THIS! i serge handmade napkins on a regular basis - my daughter would love to be involved in the process!
As an art teacher, this makes me too happy :)
What fun! I'm thinking that it would also be great fun for my daughter to paint a set of sheets for her bed too. Maybe even the curtains, with a border of handprints...
We have some fabrics that would be great for this project! Check out the linens and cottons at www.moodfabrics.com for fantastic options for these works of art!
Yes, a great idea. But it also made me think that if I ever found a tablecloth with a few 'imperfections', I can cut it up into napkins. :o)
This looks cool,...:)
