Last year a few children's bedrooms with paint by number murals made their rounds around the web with a mixed reception. Some people appreciated the kitsch factor while others screamed "tacky!" Here's a nursery that used this painting style on a smaller scale for comparison.
The nursery was designed by Shirley Meisels who chose to contrast the homey paintings against a bright green wall. It's not for everyone, but I think it's fun and balances out an otherwise modern nursery.
House of Fifty's latest issue profiles Meisels who pays special attention to thoughtful art groupings and placements in her work.

hm no not for me, although a quirky frame can do a lot for it.
cute and fun.
I actually kind of like the paintings in the photo above, I'm just not a huge fan of that green wall. I think this could be a fun project for a vintage-style nursery.
This brought a chuckle. I remember these as a kid and you see them at thrift stores all the time. I think they are fun. I think I'd paint the frames out in primary colors.
Positively delightful!
I think the frames in red or white would make them stand out more, but otherwise a neat way to decorate a nursery.
I love 'em! I have some my great grandfather painted (and signed on the back) in our guest room. You can see em here:

(They're about halfway through the post.)
Cute! Brings back good memories.
I plan on using a couple of smaller paint by numbers in our baby's nursery that I'm currently planning. I think they are the perfect style for a kiddo's room, and perfect if you want to add an old-school vibe.
They're...I don't know. I think they could be kitschy in a cute way, but I probably wouldn't go for horse prints. It's hard to say, since I can't look at that green wall for long enough.
I actually love this. I used to have a wall of this color green in my bedroom, my son's crib is just like that one, and the paint-by-numbers were one of my favorite things as a kid. I was just thinking of getting some for my daughter! I agree with others, though, about painting those frames.
I don't really have an opinion on the paintings (sorry!), but I kinda love that ceiling light fixture... anyone know where it's from?
I have collected a few of these over the years, and they all have the same frames (as each other, and as the ones in the OP) - it must be the frame that came in the kit. I like them, but yeah, not so much with that green.
AT suggestion for a thumbs up thumbs down button??
I love these and would give thumbs up. I also loved the large pbn murals! And the link above in the comment section is great!
