Shaw's Original Fir...
Once again I shake my head at the positive FETISH design bloggers have for stealing paint chips from retailers. Why not just buy a variety of colored papers, or use ones you have already?
mdorothy, we specifically say in this post in the very first sentence "If you've ever painted a room, or anything in your house, you probably have a few paint chips laying around." We don't say anything about stealing from a retailer.
Yeah - I don't see anywhere that they ask you to steal paint chips - I think this is more of a use it if you have it, or otherwise use it as inspiration with other papers project.
Stealing paint chips? lol...First, I don't see anywhere in this post where it says to "steal" paint chips. But second, I used to get bent out of shape about people taking a few extra paint chips for craft projects UNTIL the day that I was in Home Depot waiting for my paint to be mixed, and I stood there and watched the Behr paint representative filling up the paint samples. He would unwrap a brand new stack of cards, use as many as needed to fill up that particular color slot, and then THROW THE REST AWAY. I was amazed at the wastefulness. He was literally throwing stacks of brand new paint chips that he had just unwrapped into the garbage can because they didn't fit into the slot. Since that day, I haven't felt even one iota of guilt about picking up a few extra paint chip cards for a craft project here and there.
If the paint stores wanted you to take only a specific number, they would let you know. I absolutely love paint chip projects... I've been making paint chip buntings, and even added some to my Etsy shop. They are great for kids rooms- an easily movable pop of color.
