I always have the same question about black bathrooms -- how does it affect your ability to put on make up / shave? It seems like the dark walls could lead to some grooming errors.
i think it all depends on the lighting. if you have windows in your bathroom and a lot of white/light tile, then black and charcoal grey can look fabulous without making a morning routine difficult. but a bathroom with dark floors, dark tile, and little to no natural light would make this kind of impractical. i do LOVE 1, 4, and 5.
Quickest way to DE-glamorize your home: leave the toilet seat up.
My bathroom is a combo of black and light gray. The light gray was placed strategically on the vanity wall so it was well lit enough to see. The space is majority black however; and it is very soothing to me. I recommend Sherwin Williams Cyberspace SW 7076.
The first bathroom looks so much like the one in my crappy rental. Although I have black and white stripes. Used the Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black, and get lots of compliments. I guess the makeup situation works out because I get light from the hallway, and maybe the overhead light reflects against the crappy white tile.
we did a black ceiling, with white subway tile going up all the way on all four walls. It looks fantastic, though it does make the bathroom darker. i was actually surprised by that since we have 10-ft ceilings.

I love my very dark grey bathroom with white subway tile halfway up the wall and carrera on the floor. My only problem is that we can't get a fan strong enough to take out moisture and my super dark walls are constantly dripping with condensation. Wondering if there's another paint formula that I could use. I never noticed the problem before with light colored walls. Anyone have an idea on this? I do love my bathroom, but that's my word of caution to others.
Picture #1 sold me on the concept -- but wouldn't ANY other color valance work better than navy blue?
I really liked them; the first one was my favorite!!
I recently painted a bathroom black and I love it! It's very dramatic, especially in a small space. I think the key is to have plenty of balance with light - light colors and/or light sources. I have a white vanity, floors, and ceiling, and kept the walls white around the shower. And then a great lighting fixture makes up for a lack of natural light. I don't see any issue with makeup, shaving, etc. but we had to play around with wattage & types of light bulbs for the most natural look (a little yellow)
