It can be hard to visualize a room from just a paint chip. As a graphic designer, I've found it easier to use a photo editing program, like Photoshop and doctor up some images I've shot to get a better idea of how a color will look. Of course, not everyone is privy to these programs or knows how to use them. Behr Paints recognized this, and introduced an easy to use online program called ColorSmart, back in 2003. This summer, they've taken it one step further, and introduced a feature, called "Paint your place."
"Paint your place" allows you to upload pictures you have taken of your room, and using the ColorSmart online program, virtually paint your room without lifting a brush! There's a great demo on the site that explains the process in further detail. The only catch is that you have to subscribe to the service, but the price is pretty affordable. For only a $4.95 annual fee, you can upload as many images as you want, choose from over 3700 different paint colors, preview combinations, and even save favorite color palettes and order 8.oz sized paint samples to be delivered to your home. We haven't had a chance to try it yet, but if any of you are gearing up for the Color contest this weekend, or if a fresh coat of paint is part of your Cure- let us know if you decide to try out this program and report back your experience with it!
