Paint Your Room Using Flickr Photos as Inspiration

Trying to decide on a color scheme to paint your kitchen, home office, or what have you can be overwhelming. Luckily there are a few apps out there that not only help you find a color palette you like, but can then turn that palette into a few gallons of paint.

First, you'll need a photo whose color scheme you like. If you don't have one in your photo library, you can turn to Flickr for help, but with a gagillion images to look through you need some type of filter. Idée has a rad online application, Multicolr Search Lab, that collects all Creative Commons licensed images on Flickr that match a hue you've selected. You can then flip through the narrowed down collection to find images with palettes you'd like to see splashed across your walls.

You can add as many colors as you like to your filter, which narrows down photo streams even further.

Once you have an image with colors you like you can upload it to your iPhone and use either Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams' apps to match colors in the photo to colors in their paint line.
