Many times we've read comments from you, our readers, stating that you'd love to make a quilt but don't know where to start. If you're looking for group inspiration, Elizabeth at the blog Oh, Fransson! has just announced a quilt-along -- sort of an online quilting bee -- where each participant will make a gorgeous paintbox quilt like the one above.
I've made a couple of quilts and totally agree that, at the outset, a quilt project can be pretty daunting. The important thing is to see the process as a series of manageable steps. The great thing about a group project like this quilt-along is that the steps are broken down for you.
If you've never made a quilt before and you want to get an idea of what's involved, check out Elizabeth's previous quilt-along, this one for a mod sampler quilt. It covers the basics of quilting, which Elizabeth says she's not going to cover as exhaustively this time around.
The paintbox quilt-along will happen over ten weeks, though participants can work as quickly or slowly as they please. The next post, which will cover required materials, will be posted shortly. For now, be sure to read the announcement post at Oh Fransson!, and for additional inspiration, check out the Paintbox Quilt-Along Flickr group, which is already starting to buzz.

we got lots patchwork style too....
I don't have the funds to be able to do that quilt along right now, but will say that I absolutely love her blog and quilting style. She has a wonderful eye for color and design!
My mom quilts and even teaches a quilting class. When you watch someone do it, it seems pretty easy.
The one above is pretty. Love all the bold color.
