We know some readers don't take too well to repurposing books as artwork, but these painted book covers by illustrator Frank Chimero are so rad that we hope you'll forgive us for featuring them — besides he's thoughtfully left the pages intact so they can still be used for their original purpose.
The books are part of Chimero's recent show “If Someone Asks This is Where I’ll Be” and are available online at BuyOlympia.com for $150 each along with his paper cuts and some ridiculously cool paintings. The site describes his work:
Chimero’s fascination with the creative process, curios- ity, and visual experience informs all of his work. Each piece is the part of an exploration in finding wit, surprise, honesty and joy in the world around us.

I think the first one is great. The rest? Ehh..
They're cute
I like the idea of this more than the execution, really.
I think it's a cool idea. And I'm not sure if he's directly referencing The Talking Heads, but I'm digging the title of his art show.
@ kristay: ha! me too. My fave song of all time...
I like the idea, especially if the illustration riffs off the content of the book somehow.
I agree with Blandwagon - I'm liking the idea here, and would love to see some that are a bit more topic specific.
I agree with BetterBombshell
