On the Country Living site, we ran across photos of an unusual library set up - one in which the shelving catches your eye before its contents, thanks to a coat of a very...

...fearlessly vibrant paint color, Benjamin Moore's Prairie Green.
The built in shelves are fairly basic in their form, but feature a few unique details and touches (other than the color) - dentil molding cornices and, one of our favorite things, framed artwork hung on bookshelves.
The painted woodwork theme is continues throughout the room, with the glossy grey painted floor boards, a yellow Windsor chair and a blue-washed round table base.

I love this look, very Karl Larsson
i love this, normally i would've hate that color, but this i love
I'm not a fan of hanging stuff on furniture in my own home and to me a bookshelf is furniture (although sometimes my brain really wants to!) I feel like art needs room to breathe. But I love the colour of these shelves, sometimes I hate when the spines of my books are what's presumed to be "on display" because my books aren't all in the greatest condition. I enjoy how the colour takes the focus away from the books somewhat.
The brightness of this single shade gives a uniformity to the bookshelf. Makes the book pop.
that dog is freakin adorable
There is a house near me with a chartreuse deco library, quite something to behold.
I'm not a big fan of the color (I think ...) but I really like the look of it and how it wraps around the doorway. Though I must say the color does go pretty well with the eclecticism of the room.
It apparently goes well with Corgi.
everything goes well with Corgi
The paint color isn't the curious detail in my eye. It's the fact that they didn't run the built-ins to the ceiling. Perhaps there's a vent not seen in the pictures? (There are work-arounds for that issue.)
