We're always interested in seeing the dramatic results of a little paint and creativity (remember this room?). We've seen paint on the walls, on furniture, and even on the ceiling. But don't forget that the floor is another surface that can be transformed by paint.
This painted stripe hardwood floor in the latest issue of Better Homes and Gardens is a stunner. We love the stripes and the color combination the homeowner chose. We think this is a great look for a nursery or playroom. Has anyone done something similar?

That looks amazing.
Love that! I like how one stripe is still wood.
holy crap that looks hard.
more power to ya, sister. I will stand over here and applaud your efforts. no - scratch that - I will sit my lazy butt on the couch and applaud your efforts.
wow, that does look so pretty and I love the colors she used. I'd never be able to do something that brave, I'm too chicken about durability and resale value and boring things like that. :) I wonder now though, when it's time to refinish your hardwoods, could paint just be sanded off? That would make it less scary for me.
LOVE this! I am planning on doing something similar in our basement!
Amazing!
Looks fabulous - though I don't think I'd have the patience to do it. I'd imagine you have to use a heavy sealer, as I'd be concerned about wear.
Original hardwood floors are gorgeous, but this really does look amazing. It's just another way of expressing herself through decor. Maybe the floor couldn't be refinished again...who knows or cares. It really does look great. Wow.
I agree with trishdom. Hardwood flooring is so beautiful and therefore is a must for my house. I just need to find it. But bravo.
I think this is great! Plus is you really get over it and want a change...the hardwood is still under there. LOVE it.
I love this! But my husband would KILL me if I ever mentioned the word "paint" and "wood floors" in the same sentence!
Wow! Love it!
This is very creative idea, especially with the vibrant colors. Check out this new painting tool called the U-Stripe It & Design Tool. @ www.ustripeit.com You can do this project and many more with ease! Awesome project.
For those freaking out, all you need to do is sand the paint off, like you'd refinish any other floor. I think it looks amazing!
