I've had all manner of painted stripe projects lately, from toe top to crown. Here's a more traditional approach, something subtle that still reads well when you're in the room.
This is basically tone on tone in off-white. The basecoat is matte Atrium white, which is a white that looks purple-pink-grey-orange depending on the light. The stripe is simply White in a pearl finish, which gives us this glow. It's subtle, but also a surprise, like the inside of a jewel box.
First timers may want to tape off the lines, but we drew ours in a light colored pencil and painted free-hand. And since this is so white, I'll close with a few photos of other projects for comparison.
Paint used: Benjamin Moore Atrium White matte, and White in pearl finish. Also shown, clear glaze over black matte, stripes with Gold metallic.
