Painting chairs and discarded furniture is all the rage, but there are some parts of the process that can be a bit tricky. For instance, the feet. Do you know how to paint feet without them sticking to the floor or having to flip the piece over?
It's as easy as using small nails, according to Martha Stewart. You simply nail them into the center of each foot and paint away. It allows things to dry 100% without running the risk of scratching the top of your piece.
You can try this trick on almost any piece of furniture. Even large heavy dressers or bed frames. The nails are stronger than they seem, just make sure you hammer them in as level as possible. Even if you aren't painting the bottom of each foot, it allows you to work right down to the floor without painting it!

This is a great idea. I usually put newspaper under each foot and it sticks to the paint as it dries and is a pain to remove. I'm going to try this next time I paint.
Yep, great tip, I will try it too!
You'd need to "flip the piece" over to hammer in the nails, no? How about push pins instead?
Push pins are alright, depending on the push pin (some shatter and can cause it to topple over).
I should have better clarified that you didn't want to tip it over and scratch your new paint job on the top!
We have little plastic pyramids to put under furniture feet. No nailing required.
using nails you run the risk of them bending and therefore failing to acheive its purpose or even worse covering half your apartment in the paint and also of the head damaging whatever you put it onto (in the case in question it looks like a dining table). Far better to buy some cheap plastic painters pyramids as mentioned by aaakid
