Summer time is lazy beach time. Or, if you're like me, it's get-all-those-projects-done-that-I-somehow-put-off-doing-earlier time. One project you can do that will have an especially big impact is painting your walls. If you're considering it, here are some tips (ranging from the basic to the very ambitious) for getting the most out of the experience.
This tip from Cate Griffin is specifically about using grey, but her advice about picking out colors is equally relevant no matter what shade you're looking at.
From Apartment Therapy contributor Mark Chamberlain comes this tutorial for creating a strié, a glazing technique that adds texture to a wall. If you'd like something on the walls with a little movement but aren't ready to commit to a wallpaper, this is a great option.
Also from Mark Chamberlain, here's another tutorial, this one for creating stripes and patterns. Mark has great ideas for keeping stripes straight, and keeping paint inside the lines.
Feeling ambitious? Here's a final tutorial from Mark, on creating cloud murals. Hint: you're going to need more colors than just blue and white.
Thanks for watching, and happy painting!
